The entire City Of Leeds programme would like to congratulate the City Of Leeds Basketball Academy on securing their spot as Champions of the CBL Tier 3 North.
Following a win in the final regular-season game on Wednesday afternoon, the City Of Leeds Basketball Academy have been crowned CBL Tier 3 North Champions for the 2023/24 season.
This achievement means that the Academy will now take their place in the CBL Promotional Playoff bracket for the chance to retake a spot in CBL Tier 2 for next season.
The regular season closes with COLBA Head Coach Matt Newby incredibly proud of his charges:
"The CBL has been highly competitive with some very close and hard fought battles with QE of York and St Peter’s of Wolverhampton, and two intense fixtures with local rivals LCC.
The team has earned the right to push for promotion which will not be easy, and with another 80 minutes of play left to earn that right, I hope we remain locked in. This would be big moment for the programme, a great legacy for our Seniors to leave and an important baton for our underclassman and incoming cohort to pick up in the 2024/25 season.
We would like to thank all the staff at Allerton HS for their support. The SLT have consistently supported the academy from its inception, the teachers provide a rich learning environment for our students to maximise their academic potential and the administration support and site staff always ensure we have what we need to be successful."
